Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Wednesday afternoon school Principals were informed that most schools in the district would need to be completely closed to students as well as all teaching and support staff by next week. On Thursday, Principals were given a timeline of Tuesday afternoon to have this completed. This timeline includes collection of students’ personal items from the school.
The reason for this change in our school process is due to the short supply of cleaning resources in our school district caused by an increased demand at hospitals around the province. Our district will centralize the use of these supplies in “hub schools” in our various regions in order to support our essential service workers.
So, since we have to complete the closure of our school and the distribution of students’ items to families by end of the day Tuesday, our new “collect at school” schedule for families will be as follows…
On Monday from 1:00-3:00 and Tuesday from 9:00-3:00 we will have student materials ready for pick up. Parents can drop by the school, call when you arrive or shortly before to 250-838-7579 to let us know you are here. We will have tables out with items in bags for you to pick up.
If we weren’t sure who owned which shoes in some classes, we labelled them with our best guess, or a question mark and will have them set out on tables labelled with the classroom teacher’s name. You can collect your child’s items from these class tables (if more than one child at our school). We will have two lost and found tables to check out. If you see your child’s clothes there, please collect them as well.
At this time, you could also return library books and other school property (textbooks, uniforms etc.) that you may have at home. I will have a green wooden drop box out in the parking lot near the back door of the gym where you can place these items.
To protect everyone’s health, we ask that you maintain a two-meter distance at all times during this pick up process with anyone you do not live with. Please instruct your children to do the same.
If you are not able to make one of these two dates/times, please call our new Secretary, Linda, or myself, to set up a time for pick up.
Any unclaimed items will be kept at the school until school opens again. It is all labelled and in bags.
