The staff at Grindrod Elementary wish everyone a safe , healthy and happy summer holiday! Early registration for 2021-2022 is Tuesday, August 31st from 8:00am -2:00pm. If these hours don’t work for your family, please call us at this time to let us know of your intention to register.

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 7th from 8:00-11:00am. This is an early dismissal day. Students will return to last year’s class on this first day, giving the staff the opportunity to assess enrolment and configure classes based on the number of students attending school in 2021-2022. It is our hope that, with district approval, we can place our students into their new classes by Wednesday, September 8th, however, the configuration process may take several days to complete as district staff must approve our class numbers. If we are not able to complete the new class configurations by Wednesday then students will continue to go back to the class they were in last year until the process is complete. We thank both students and parents for their patience while this process is completed.

Although this not a certainty yet, we anticipate being back to normal for the 2021-2022 school year. This means not having to wear masks, inviting parents into the school to support classrooms, having parents welcomed on fieldtrips, having all students able to play together on the playground, having PAC meetings at the school in person, inviting outside groups such as gymnastics instructors and cultural event performers into the school, having our famous hot lunch program active again and hosting our ever popular whole school assemblies and fieldtrips. We are so excited to be opening our doors to the community again. I want to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, parents and the community for their unending support of Grindrod School this past year. You made it possible for great learning to continue!
